This reminded me of the rather sombre heavy wooden doors you see in Spain. A closer look reveals Gold. Beautiful.”
Jenny Rees Davies

Whilst I previously focussed on oil painting on canvas, in recent work I have begun to add mixed media including Burmese Gold leaf bought back from Myanmar, lapis lazuli pigment and various textured pigments and powders. I also like to experiment with different ways of application, sponge, cloth scraper, palette knife, scratching into thick paint with the end of a brush.

Paint gets everywhere and in ‘What Painting Is’ by James Elkins he describes the Alchemy of Paint…. how paint becomes ingrained and indelible, on every item of clothing, embedded into your skin, so it that it becomes part of you.

I love this painting by Linda. The composition, the eye is led into the picture, it’s a fine mixture of realism and abstraction. The colour of blue is a lovely choice with just the right amount of warmth in the skyline”
